How we charge for the Magiq...

Based on Usage

Magiq charges are all usage based. When you set up a Gnome to do something, you will give it a budget to work with. It will charge you for the work it does (changing content, keeping customer records etc.) If it runs out of money it will stop work and email you, so there is no risk you will go over budget (and you can check your Statement at any time).

The charges each App incurs are listed in the sections below.

Minimum monthly charge

Magiq has a minimum monthly charge, but think of it as credit, because you can spend it on anything - it's almost like free minutes and texts on a mobile phone contract, except that you choose which Apps you want to spend your minimum fee on.

The Magiq minimum monthly charge is $850 (£500)
You decide your actual monthly spending by setting your gnomes' budgets.

First 50,000 records free

Magiq works by collecting data on all online visitors and building a behavioral profile or ‘record’ for each visitor.

Every time a new visitor arrives Magiq will create a new ‘record’ for them. Magiq will create and look after the first 50,000 of these records for free. From then on, we will charge you $0.50 (50 cents) a month for every thousand records Magiq looks after.

So, if you have 90,000 new visitors to your site in the first month, we will charge $20.00 to your account. (50,000 free records plus 40,000 at $0.50 per thousand).
Over time you will accumulate records for more visitors. Magiq will drop records for individuals who stop visiting after 12 months.
You set the limit on the amount you wish to spend on keeping records.

We will bill you on the 1st day of each calendar month following the date when you open your account, and on the first day of each following month.

Chameleon

You set up Chameleon Gnomes to optimize landing (or other) pages based on the search terms customers use. We charge you $1.50 for every thousand page impressions of pages you have set Chameleon Gnomes to work on.

So, if you have a Chameleon Gnome working on a page which is viewed 10,000 times in a month, will cost $15.00 a month.
Each Gnome's fees are calclulated separately. So just add up the page impressions for each Gnome to calculate your total Chameleon spend. (Actually you don't really need to do this, just look at the Budgets & Timesheets tab in your management app, and it will show you how much you are spending on your Gnomes, what budgets you have set them and what they are estimated to spend if you leave them running all month.)

Locale

You set up Locale Gnomes to optimize pages based on the location or language of the visitor. We charge you $2.00 for every thousand impressions of pages you have set Locale Gnomes to work on.

So if you had a Locale gnome changing your normal price list to Euros for European visitors and this page was was viewed 50,000 time a month, the gnome would spend $100.00. (remember that like Chameleon, Locale gnomes charge you for checking if the change needs to be made - so it is not affected by the number of European viewers, it is just the total number of page views that counts.).

Prospect

We charge for Prospect by the number of customer records you download. We charge you $5.00 per thousand downloaded records. Prospect allows you to download the customer records mentioned above.

Remember that Prospect needs the historical records of your visitors and their actions, so we can alert you when they look ready to buy. These customer records are kept by Magiq's Record-Keeping Gnomes, make sure they have enough budget, or Prospect will not find all the opportunities your visitors represent.

So, if you downloaded 2,000 records per day we would charge you $10.00 per day ($5.00 per thousand).
Once you have told the Prospect app how many records you want, and what type of records you wish to download, it will tell you how much you will be charged for that download, and gives you the option to cancel the request before you go ahead with your download.

Retain

Retain is charged by the number of at-risk customer records you download. We charge you $5.00 per thousand downloaded records. Retain needs the historical records of your visitors and their actions, so we can alert you when they look at risk of leaving. These records are kept by Magiq's Record-Keeping Gnomes, make sure they have enough budget or Retain will not be able to tell you about all the visitors who look at risk.

So, if you downloaded 1,500 records per day we would charge you $10.00 per day ($5.00 per complete or partial thousand records).

Before you complete your download Retain will tell you how much you will be charged and give you the option to cancel the request before you go ahead.

Smart

You can set up Smart Gnomes to work anywhere on the site, you decide under what circumstances and on what pages they spring into action to adjust the page content and implement your instructions.

We will charge you $2.00 for every 1,000 times your instructions trigger them into action.

Smart can also make use of the customer histories maintained by your Record Keeping Gnome - make sure she has enough budget to do her job.

So, as opposed to charging you for the page impressions that the gnomes check (like Chameleon and Locale) Smart only charges your account when a Smart Gnome takes and action.
If you have a Smart gnome changing page content for visitors who arrive using an iPhone, we will charge you $2.00 for every thousand times this gnome makes a change to a page.

Record-Keeping Gnomes

Magiq's minimum monthly charge includes your own Record-Keeping Gnome. She will record the behavior and history of your first 50,000 individual visitors, and will compute and maintain their RFM scores. If you have more than 50,000 people using your site you will need to give her a bigger budget. She will keep additional records at the price of $0.50 (50 cents) per thousand records per month.

You can see how many records you are keeping, and reset this limit on the Profile Tab in the Account section of your Magiq Management App.

If she runs out of money, she will continue to maintain the records she has (updating visit counts etc.) but she will not add records for new visitors. So the products which use her records will become less effective. She will remove records of defected customers from her lists (people who don't come back for 12 months) so you won't be paying for customers who are no longer relevant.

You can't reduce her budget below the number of records she is already keeping (as you asked her to look after them for the whole month). If you do set her budget lower than needed to look after the current records, then at the start of the next month she will delete enough records to operate within the newly set budget. To do this she will delete the newest visitor's records to preserve as much history of your long-term customers as possible. However, you will still be billed for the records she has accumulated for the current month, up to the point you reset her budget.

Spending Limits and Budgeting

You give each gnome you set up a monthly budget to work with. When this budget is spent they stop work. You can allocate them more or less money, at any time. The gnomes, budgets, actual and predicted charges are all shown on the Budgets & Timesheets tab in your management app

Clearly, you can reduce a gnome’s budget below the amount they have already spent in the current 'month'!

If you do set the budget lower than this amount you have effectively put the gnome to sleep until the end of the month. When the new month starts they will start working again under their new budget.

Remember your minimum monthly fee is always available to be spent on any of the apps or gnomes you set up – your minimum monthly fee will be used up first, then we will add any additional fees to your bill.

It's a good idea to set quite small budgets for new gnomes until you know they are working well for you – when you are happy with their work you can give them more.

Where billing is related to 'per thousand' amounts, then we will just round up the number of items to the next nearest thousand and bill you for that - so if you have processed 105,677 chameleon page impressions then we will bill you for 106,000.

Don't Forget...

Do keep an eye on your record-keeping gnome's budget, because Retain, Prospect and Smart use her data! You can see how many records you are keeping, and reset this limit on the Profile Tab in the Account section of your Magiq Management App.
All our prices are are shown in US Dollars (excluding tax), but we will bill you in Pounds Sterling if you are in the UK or Euros if you are in Europe.
We will Invoice you in the first week of each calendar month for your usage of the service over the previous month. You can check your Statement at any time from the statement.
You can close your account at any time, just let us know, and we will close your at the end of the month you tell us in, and you will only be liable for charges to the end of the month...
